BAMSI, a statewide human service agency, is committed to providing its 1,800 employees with more than just a job. As a diverse, multi-service organization providing a comprehensive network of services addressing developmental and intellectual disabilities, mental illness, substance use, and social determinants of health such as housing and nutrition, BAMSI has been in the business of supporting personal development for over 45 years. Recently, it expanded how it supports the professional development of its dedicated workforce.

In addition to its already robust internal training and professional development offerings, which includes a nine-month-long “New and Emerging Leaders” cohort program, BAMSI is helping employees earn advanced degrees and specialized certifications to further their careers.

Last year, BAMSI launched an Educational Assistance Program that includes tuition reimbursement for courses related to an employee’s current or potential future job at BAMSI. This month, BAMSI is announcing a new partnership with Southern New Hampshire University that will provide a 15% discount on tuition and course credit for training and classes offered through BAMSI’s Professional Development Department. BAMSI is also in talks with local institutions like Curry College on developing similar partnerships.

BAMSI CEO, Peter Evers, who began his career as a Residential Counselor in a similar agency, said, “we want to provide our employees with everything they need to advance their careers, so they see work at BAMSI as more than just a place to pick up a shift on a Wednesday night. We want to be a partner on their professional development journey.”

For over 45 years, BAMSI has been a human service leader in Massachusetts. In 2020, over 42,000 individuals and families across 5 Massachusetts counties received personalized care from one of BAMSI’s 1,800 dedicated and compassionate employees.
