Individual and Family CounselingBehavioral Health Services

BAMSI’s outpatient mental health clinic, Whitman Counseling Center, is licensed by the Department of Public Health and accredited by CARF.  The center is committed to empowering people to achieve their full potential through a variety of therapeutic approaches.  We provide services for children and adults who are experiencing difficulty in their lives due to psychiatric or emotional symptoms.  Some examples of difficulties may include emotional turmoil, life crises, marital or family difficulties, substance abuse (or dual diagnosis of mental illness and substance abuse), major mental illness, and recovery from abuse suffered in childhood, among others.

All of BAMSI’s clinic-based services are consolidated in Whitman, with additional outreach services to meet the needs of those for whom Whitman Counseling Center is not as convenient.  In keeping with industry trends and following BAMSI’s commitment to meet people where they are, this has resulted in convenient, accessible locations where counseling will occur. BAMSI’s goal in the field of mental health is to be available and convenient for persons in need of services.  Six outreach locations support individual, group, couples, and family counseling. Seven different therapists will work at these outreach sites, providing convenient, community-based therapies.

BAMSI’s mental health services accept those who are willing to engage in a treatment plan developed collaboratively with a member of the treatment staff.  Culturally and linguistically appropriate services are available in diverse languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole.   BAMSI is a mental health provider for Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts, HMO Blue, Medicaid/Medicare, and other health plans.  We have a commitment to providing services to those in need and therefore have a reasonable reduced fee for those who are uninsured.
