On Wednesday, October 24, BAMSI’s Brockton WIC Office celebrated Food Day-a nationwide celebration and a movement for healthy, affordable, and sustainable food. Coinciding with WIC’s final cooking class with Cooking Matters, Food Day encourages clients to eat real food rather than processed. The class looked at the cost of real vs. processed foods and learned about the chemicals present in some favorite processed foods.

To celebrate, the class cooked several items (click on each dish for recipes):

The six-week class was a huge success. View other posts with recipes here and here. The clients loved the class, learned a lot, and appreciated the effort of all who made this class possible (Share our Strength’s Cooking Matters Group, state WIC program, and local Brockton WIC program). Each client left with a gift bag with the Cooking Matters Cook Book, a new cutting board, new chef’s knife, and food to cook. We hope they take what they’ve learned from the class and on Food Day and continue to eat real and healthy foods!
