Karen is the Chief People Officer at Apellis Pharmaceuticals and has served in this role for the last three years. She has over 20 years of experience leading human resource (HR) teams in the biotechnology and technology industries. Prior to Apellis, Karen held various HR leadership roles at Axcella Health, Biogen, Amazon and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Throughout her career, Karen gained extensive experience in Talent Acquisition and Management, Organizational Design and Effectiveness, Total Rewards, and Diversity Equity Inclusion. She holds a B.S. in biology from Rider University and worked as a research scientist initially before pursuing her passion in HR.
