Brockton, MA- “Everything I do makes a difference. The people in our community depend on us so all of their needs, which I support and give them care for. (That) makes a big difference,” Quinones said. “I’ve always had a heart for elderly disabled individuals. The most rewarding part of my job is simply seeing the individual smile and knowing that I gave my best to make that smile happen.”

Quinones takes her role as program manager seriously, knowing that how she conducts herself can provide a positive example for those around her.

“I am basically the top structure of how the home runs and I am an example for the individuals and an example for my staff,” she said. “My job to me is about relationships. I have created relationships with co-workers that become friends and become friends outside of the BAMSI work life. I’ve created bonds with the individuals that I work with here or within the other homes. They’re just long, life-lasting bonds.”

According to Quinones, those bonds are an important part of her life.

“Working at BAMSI just makes you feel good in general because you are helping yourself and helping someone who needs help and cannot help themselves,” she said. “Personally, the bonds you create within BAMSI, be it co-worker bonds or the bonds within the persons served really make a difference in your life.”

Quinones said that she finds BAMSI an excellent environment to grow and advance in, pointing out that she worked her way to program manager from an RC position in two years. She said that she continues to strive for further advancement as well while gaining a sense of personal fulfillment.

“It’s helped me to mature responsibility wise,” Quinones said. “Not only am I responsible in my own role but I am responsible for the care of five other individuals and that is really important to me.”
