Strengthening and Supporting Families
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a public health program that benefits low-and moderate-income pregnant and parenting women and their families. BAMSI operates WIC programs in Brockton, Norwood, Quincy, Randolph, Stoughton, and Weymouth, serving over 20+ towns on the South Shore.
Pregnant women or families with children under 5 may be eligible to enroll for FREE WIC foods and services to keep their families healthy. You are automatically income eligible for WIC if you are currently receiving TAFDC, Food Stamps, or specific types of MassHealth. Foster children under age 5 are also automatically eligible for WIC.
WIC offers new mothers support at every step of the way.
From pregnancy to toddlerhood, counselors and nutritionists can help you:
- Make healthy food choices
- Gain confidence to know that your baby is getting proper nutrition
- Learn when to introduce solid foods, increase textures to table foods, and transition to a cup
- Make food choices to develop healthy eating habits for a lifetime
- Learn fun, easy snacking ideas, how to offer new foods, ways to keep your child active
- Retain referrals to play groups and other local events
- Get answers to specific questions and concerns about your child
