New Start

Brain Injury Community Center

About New Start

New Start is a member-driven community for adult brain injury survivors, operated by BAMSI in Worcester, Massachusetts. Based on the Clubhouse model, members and staff work side by side in a structured, work-ordered day to support the daily operations of the clubhouse.

Member Participation
Members take an active role in the community by helping maintain the clubhouse, organizing social activities, supporting administrative tasks, and preparing and serving lunch. These shared responsibilities create opportunities for meaningful contribution while fostering a sense of ownership and collaboration.

Supportive Community
New Start is designed to promote connection, purpose, and personal growth. Through participation in daily clubhouse activities, members can build skills, strengthen relationships, increase confidence, and develop a stronger sense of belonging within a supportive community.

A brain injury can be a life-changing experience. BAMSI’s New Start Brain Injury Community Center allows people who have experienced a brain injury to come together, share their experiences, and support each other as they rebuild their lives.

“New Start is a great place to build your skills and learn new things. It’s also a place where you can be yourself and feel part of a supportive community.”
