BAMSI Brings New Expertise to Board of Directors
BAMSI, a large human service agency with locations across southeastern Massachusetts, recently elected Julia Chandler and Isabelle Guembou to its Board of Directors. Both women are seasoned executives and were referred to BAMSI through The Boston Club’s Nonprofit Board Committee, which promotes and supports women to boards of directors of nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies and commissions.
Julia Chandler, a licensed CPA, currently serves as Director of M&A Integration with Carlisle Companies, Inc. and previously served as the company’s Vice President & Treasurer, where she was responsible for the company’s global liquidity, capital, and risk management. Julia brings 30 years of experience in finance, accounting, and consulting to the BAMSI board but began her career in non-profit arts administration as an Administrative Assistant for what is now the Celebrity Series of Boston. She holds a B.A. degree in Mathematics and Music from Amherst College and an MBA from the Tepper School at Carnegie Mellon University. In addition to joining BAMSI’s Board of Directors, Julia also sits on the boards of ATASK (Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence), a non-profit community service organization and The South Fork Conservancy, a non-profit environmental organization.
Isabelle Guembou brings expertise in hospital operations and process engineering management to BAMSI’s board. Currently at UMass Memorial Health as a Lean Sigma Leader Isabelle has previously worked in other leadership roles at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, HCA Healthcare, and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She is a fellow of Healthcare Finance Management Association and holds several certifications in Healthcare. Isabelle earned a B.S. in Industrial & Systems Engineering at Wayne State University in Michigan, an Executive MBA in Healthcare Management from the University of Texas at Tyler, and an Executive Certificate in Value Measurement for Healthcare from Harvard Business School.
Julia and Isabelle’s election to the BAMSI Board of Directors is part of the organization’s ongoing strategy to attract subject matter experts and its commitment to diversity. Board Chair Ed Cabellon explains “We have been carefully growing our Board here at BAMSI. Each member has something unique to contribute at a time when the provision of healthcare services gets ever more complex. Julia Chandler and Isabelle Guembou are no exception. They bring the type of expertise and skills we need at a time when the agency is undergoing significant change as it gears up for a new period in human services delivery.”
BAMSI is a private 501c3 nonprofit human service organization that helps people live more independent and healthful lives by providing a comprehensive network of services addressing developmental and intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and substance use.
