BAMSI Dorn Davies Senior Center Secures $10,000 Grant to Fight Senior Food Insecurity

Brockton, MA, June 16, 2026 – BAMSI is pleased to announce that its Dorn Davies Senior Center has received a $10,000 grant from the Mabel A. Horne Fund, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee, to support nutrition and food assistance programs for disabled and low-income seniors in the Greater Brockton area.

The funding will support efforts to provide daily meals and food assistance to older adults who face food insecurity and other barriers to maintaining their health and independence. It will also help sustain the Brown Bag program, which distributes approximately 700 bags of food each month to seniors in need. The grant comes at a critical time as many seniors continue to struggle with rising costs of food and limited financial resources.

Located in Brockton, the Dorn Davies Senior Center supports older adults in maintaining their health and wellness through daily meals, nutrition assistance, supportive programming, and opportunities for connection and engagement. Many of the seniors served by the center are living with disabilities, chronic health conditions, limited incomes, or social isolation, underscoring the importance of accessible nutrition and support services.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support of our food assistance program for our seniors. For many, access to healthy meals is an essential part of their daily lives. This grant will allow us to continue this important work while ensuring older adults in our community have the resources they need to stay healthy, independent, and connected,” said Rosa Mendes, Dorn Davies Program Director.
